What is the RETENTION SYSTEM...

IPL group’s patented RETENTION SYSTEM is a unique method for installing posts in ductile-iron RS sockets that builds-on or replaces traditional foundation methods for fast, easy installation and removal of posts.


The RETENTION SYSTEM sets the standard for post installation. It has been designed for a variety of posts, with a range of dedicated RS sockets to match specific post sizes, types and installation requirements. Typically traffic signal posts, signposts, bollards and most street furniture items are installed encased in concrete, or anchored and bolted to a concrete plinth. This means they are permanent and removal entails further expensive, disruptive and potentially dangerous excavation. With the introduction of the multi-use RETENTION SYSTEM these and other posts can now be installed in high-strength ductile-iron RS sockets and replaced with great speed, ease and efficiency.

  IPL group developed the RETENTION SYSTEM to meet the rigorous demands and specifications of contemporary urban environments. Post foundation requirements, the elimination of excavations and pavement congestion have all been considered alongside current safety concerns for pedestrian and driver safety. The design and build of each RS socket in the expanding range of sizes has been comprehensively trialled, tested and developed on real market experience.
How does the RS socket work...

The RETENTION SYSTEM offers both first-time installation and long-term operational benefits. The RS socket is first fixed, ready for the post. Once the foundation is in place, the post can be cleanly installed and any required cabling and electrical connections completed. Improved installation and on-site adjustment of depth, direction and rotation is inbuilt on some RS sockets and all installations have the long-term feature of security and easy post replacement.

RS sockets are available in a range of sizes and depths to suit an array of posts, including most signposts, bollards, traffic signal posts and other street furniture.

The RETENTION SYSTEM also facilitates various electrical connections, shallow, deep or reinforced installations, diverse road, surface and environment conditions, and many other user requirements.

 


In practice the RETENTION SYSTEM works because it separates the integrity of the foundation from the post. This means the foundation and RS socket remain intact beyond the lifespan of most posts, allowing consecutive posts to be installed in the original foundation and RS socket. In overall terms this makes installation, maintenance and replacement of posts cheaper, quicker, safer and easier with the RETENTION SYSTEM.
